Program dates and application deadlines

Summer 2025 program dates: June 10 – July 26, 2025
Application deadline: April 1, 2025
Decision notification: April 15, 2025 (Notification letters will be sent out to applicants.)

Program eligibility

To be eligible for the NSF-RET program, you must

  • Be a US citizen, US national, or permanent resident
  • Be a high school or middle school teacher offering STEM courses.
  • Complete this online application by providing supporting documents and a letter of recommendation.

Teachers from underrepresented minority groups, women and first-generation college graduates are especially encouraged to apply.

Although we invite individual teachers to apply, we also encourage multiple teachers from the same school/school district to apply, in the interest of allowing them to work together post-summer.

Application information

To complete the 2025 RET application, you must fill out the Application Form using NSF-ETAP. The process will include:

  • Personal Statement
  • CV/Resume
  • Transcripts
  • One Letter of Reference
  • Research topic selection
