Join our Summer 2026 program

We are excited to continue the Summer REU Site under the NSF Grant titled “Advancing high-performance computing opportunities in undergraduate research at UW-Eau Claire to meet challenges of multidisciplinary computational science” in 2026. Through this grant, we are able to host 10 different undergraduate students for a 9-week program each summer from 2025 to 2027.

The Summer 2026 program will take place from Monday, June 8 to Friday, August 7, 2026. Applications are due Monday, March 2, 2026.

Be part of fascinating research projects

The REU site at UWEC will provide a comprehensive research experience in high-performance computing and its importance in several research domains. Students will get an opportunity to conduct research in any of the research topics mentioned below:

  • Bioinformatics: Understanding Evolutionary Phenomena with sequence analysis.
  • Computer Science: Machine and deep learning and computer vision
  • Chemistry and Biochemistry: Quantum chemical simulation and multiscale modeling
  • Geography and Anthropology: Multi-modal fusing of geospatial data for environmental monitoring
  • Materials Science and Biomedical Engineering: Machine learning force fields and deep learning applications in superconducting wire assessment

Full descriptions for each of this summer's projects can be found on our projects list page.
