Exploring the power of computational science
Upward Bound students get first-hand experience in this summer workshop for high-performance computing taught by University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire faculty and staff volunteers. Six faculty members collaborate with UW-Eau Claire’s Upward Bound program to share techniques used to process large amounts of data and perform complex calculations at high speed. The workshop’s topics featured this year include: biology, computer science, and chemistry.
New this year is our ending segment on careers in STEM. During the panel, students are able to ask questions to workshop leaders and research students on getting started in STEM, research, and the college experience.
With this workshop, we hope to bring HPC and computational sciences to local high school students, potentially attracting bright minds to UW-Eau Claire.
Workshop Schedule
The workshop will be split between a few different rooms in Hibbard Humanities Hall (HHH) to accommodate all students. Zoom will be set up in all of the rooms to watch the presenter.
